Owl
The term owl is the common name for strigiform birds , from the families of the titonidae and strigids. These birds have crepuscular and nocturnal habits and silent flight due to the structure of the feathers, feeding on small mammals (mainly rodents ), insects and spiders .
They swallow their meals whole, then vomit pellets with hair and fragments of bones . In the Amazon region , some species are also called murutucu. Popular superstition says that they guess death with their chirping and fluttering. It was also thought that these birds like olive oil
for visiting the churches during the night, where there were oil lamps burning. In fact they looked for the insects attracted by the light of the lamps. Owl pups may fall prey to predators such as the hawk .
