White stork

The white stork (Ciconia ciconia) possesses white plumage, except in the remiges of its wings, that are of a glossy black. The adult stork can reach the height of as much as 1.2 m, measuring almost 1.2 m of body length, with a magnificent wingspan, which can extend up to 2 m. Its long red beak, broad at the base and pointed, is used by the stork to search the marsh for frogs , fish or small reptiles. In addition to small aquatic creatures, it feeds on grasshoppers and locusts, and can also resort to carrion and debris.
