The sparrow is a generic name given to the small birds of the family Passeridae, genus Passer and Petronia.  Sparrows are cosmopolitan birds and adapt well to urbanized areas and to coexist with humans. They feed on the base of seeds during most of the year and of insects in the time of reproduction. The domestic sparrow has been introduced by humans on all continents and is currently the most widely distributed bird species. 

The term owl is the common name for strigiform birds , from the families of the titonidae and strigids.
